    The bamboo fibre pulls sweat away from the skin instead of soaking it up. The raised basket-weave knit leaves tiny channels for air to move through, so your foot dries as it goes. That's the difference at 6 pm: dry feet, and shoes you can take off in company.

    Do they actually keep my feet from smelling, or is that marketing?

    They keep your feet drier, and dry is what stops the smell. Bamboo pulls sweat off the skin and the open knit lets it evaporate, where cotton holds it against you all day. Wear them through a full day with shoes on and check at night.

    I'm buying for my husband and I don't know his size. Which one do I pick?

    There are only two, and they're generous: EU 39–43 (UK 6–9, US 7–10) or EU 44–48 (UK 9.5–12.5, US 10.5–13.5). Check the size printed inside his shoes: under 44, take the first; 44 or more, the second. And if it's wrong, we exchange them for free within 30 days.

    Every ankle sock I've owned slides down into my shoe. Will these?

    No. The heel is knitted as a shaped pocket that locks onto your heel, and the ribbed cuff holds just below the ankle bone. Walking, running for a train, a full day in sneakers or loafers: they stay where you put them.

    What are they actually made of?

    80% bamboo viscose for the softness and breathability, 17% polyamide for strength, 3% elastane for stretch. It's on the label, exactly as written here.

    How many pairs should I get?

    A pack of 5 covers his working week. A pack of 10 means he never runs out between washes, and it's where the price per pair is lowest.
